Let's get Personal .......

I believe it is very important for professional photographers to have personal project it keeps the passion alive and the creativity from this spills out into their commercial work. So to this end I have made a plan of what I intend to do this year to ensure I don't just start things but also actaully finish them.

Marc's Personal Photographic Projects for 2009

My Ongoing Projects

1. Delamere Forest – A seasonal observation of this lovely woodland area not too far from home. So far I have completed autumn and some of winter but hoping for snow.

2. Street Photography – this has really only just started although I have been wanting to do this for some time the focus being mainly in large busy urban areas where I am ale to blend in within causing too much attention I have so far shot in Edinburgh, Chester and Liverpool where next ? probably Manchester or Salford.

3. Polaroid World – As an article in Professional Photographer (Feb 2009) laments the passing of instant Polaroid film …. and some iconic examples bring excellent money at auction to me now is the time to explore this media fully …Original Polaroid is still available with limited stock in storage although some is now out of date, and to the rescue Fuji have just announced that they are to fill part of that gap.
4. Hello Holga – Plastic lens, crude controls, sticky tape to keep out the light with little idea of what you are getting, wonderfully miles away from digital capture. I have a couple of Holga cameras I really need to use this year. (not even an example as yet to show).

5.Classic Camera Collection – As a “born again” lover of film I have started to build up a collect of classic cameras but to polish and put behind glass but regularly use either as the media to capture an image or to feature in an image as a meaningful prop under the general title of “Icons” meaning not just the camera but the context in which it is depicted.

6. Multimedia Creations – including but not inclusively: Polaroid, film, digital, pin hole, flat bed scanner, bean cans if they work just about anything goes to be as creative as possible.

Single Projects not yet complete
This is the bit where I have work complete in respect of capture …but really haven’t
presentation it in a meaningful way as yet.
2008/9
1. Edinburgh Fridge 2008

2. Derelict Hotel – Saxon Cross

More for 2009
I will start to add to this list shortly but the thing that has been missing during 2008 is a regular model …. yes I have decided a muse is required … I need to do some collaborative projects again it is in those that I am most creative.
