Gooping Around ...

For those of you who don't know what "Goop" is .... you are possibly in for a treat ...that is if you still hanker for real chemical photography ..... :-)
"Goop" basically refers to the chemicals that are left over after a Polaroid instant peel apart film is developed, this is a an alkaloid substance which neutralizes the acid of the main developing process and is apparently a little toxic so best to wipe it away carefully from the edges of the paper negative it resides on .... that is .... if you plan on keeping both the conventional print and this Goop/Negative Print which is intended for disposal but often has as much if not more potential than the positive print it produces.
Goop can take hours if not days to fully dry so best to put somewhere safe once you have peeled apart the film. The next thing to do is to scan the goop negative at this point it will possibly not look like much,as they are quite dark, but once the contrast and levels have been played with in Photoshop some amazing results can be achieved.
This works better with some film stock than others the one above was from Type 88 film ...which isn't meant to be the best for this process however it seem to work OK for me, I usually prefer these to actual prints ... perhaps that says something about my photography ..?
