New York ...New York ..

New York the city that never sleeps is about right ........ it certainly doesn't allow it's visitors to sleep either .... it seems mandatory to sound your car horn 24/7 and for most effect at 3 am for no apparent reason, other than to let those trying to sleep know the Big Apple doesn't allow uninterrupted slumber.
This trip was for "pleasure" although like the 3 am concerto for yellow cab horns in D Minor, "Customs" no sorry Homeland Security was about as predictably unfriendly ..... I was so temped to go into a Borrat type routine with them .... but some how don't fancy looking down the barrel of a gun ....... I think if they want tourists they better start attending "Charm School" although if these guys could ever learn charm is questionable.
So was the visit worth while .... ? well for my teenage son who wanted to go I think so, and for me as a photographer yes most definitely. The weather was poor with mostly rain so although making some parts of walking and traveling a little less interesting ...the water on the sidewalks and roads meant some great shots especially in Time Square where the lights from all the signs reflected so well in the ground water.
I also have to give great praise to the NYC Cabbys because when they weren't sounding their horns, are possibly the most interesting and honest load of guys I have ever met. Special praise also to Michael (the guide on the Hudson River Cruise) he turned a wet day into one of great interest, and also made me realize that Homeland Security possibly did have a difficult job to do, as we passed Ground Zero seeing that not all visitors come in peace ...
It is worth a visit if you haven't been but hopefully you get a little less rain than we had.
For those interested shots where in Time Square at dawn or dust about 1600 ISO 16-35 F2.8 lens mainly hand held but I also used a tripod for a couple of shots to get more motion blur on the cabs etc.
