Don't let this happen to you ......

18 Months and still waiting for their wedding album ...

A article in today's local paper (The Sentinel) showed the potential issues a couple could experience if they don't book the right photographer for there big day. Basically after some 18 months they still hadn't received their wedding album and have been given a barrage of excuses for this, what is worst they were one of many such couples using this particular "photographer" who have had issues.

I have also had quite a few of this "photographer's" clients contacting me as another local professional photographer asking for advise on what they should do to ensure they get their albums, prints etc.It is always difficult in such situations to to give advise without knowing all the facts, but after the third or fourth person contacting me I realised this particular "photographer" was at best not good at customer relations, and at worse is giving my profession a very bad name.

My advise therefore to anyone looking to book a wedding photographer is to find one who is registered with an official body such as the SWPP (Society of Wedding & Portrait Photographers) this should help guarantee that the photographer you are planning on using is recognised by a professional organisation. Therefore if you are unfortunate enough to have an issue with your chosen photographer the organisation can intervene on your behalf to find a solution.

This is even more important when there is a down turn in the economy with so many people with an amateur interest in photography offering their services for weddings etc. When from some of the the images I have recently seen show these individuals are totally clueless when it comes to a one off chance to capture a very special event. Always use a photographer with experience, who is recognised by an official body and where possible has been recommended by someone you know well, that way hopefully a lot of stress like that poor couple has experienced will have been avoided.
