The Artist Jason Montinola contacted me back in December last year to ask if he could use one of my photographic images as the basis to produce an oil painting from. Of course I was highly delighted that a fellow artist liking my work, and in an internet age where so often copyright is flaunted, I felt this was also very civil of him to ask permission.
Jason is a up and coming young artist living in the Philippines and has just had his 3rd Solo Exhibition Entitled "Trudging Through The Ashes" in the prestigious Tala Gallery in Quezon City, Philippines. I am sure it will not be long before Jason will be having his fourth Exhibition, and hopefully he will send me tickets :-)
The image he based his painting on was from a photoshoot I did with a model Holly (AKA Ivory Flame) in the grounds of Wroxhall Abbey Warwickshire, as part of a promotion for some location based photographic workshops. I have to say the images where very pleasing at the time as Holly is a very striking model and suited the setting well and to see one of these images now in oils is truly wonderful.Labels: painting in oils by jason montinola from an image by photographer marc byram girl in the woods model ivory flame
